As mentioned before, collaborations are the name of the game in collectible sneakers these days. They typically feature special colorways and premium materials that make the sole freaks go nuts. This latest collaboration from New Balance and West NYC Sneaker boutique is no different. The model chosen as a canvas for this design is the MT580 that has been making a resurgence in popularity thanks to Detroit shop Burn Rubber and their 3 collabs on the shoe. For this iteration West NYC’s owner Lester Wasserman went back to the 90s for some inspiration from alpine and ski wear that was popular at the time. Wasserman loves the outdoors and was going for a look that gave that feel while still staying true to the MT580s running style. The results are nothing short of fantastic. Featuring a primarily grey premium suede upper and hits of teal and purple throughout this shoe will definitely turns heads coast to coast. The black midsole with teal speckles is sure to please and the look is completed with rope style outdoor laces. One of my personal favorite details is the rubber tongue emblem also done up in a teal and purple look. These are schedule to DROP September 22nd at WestNYC and details are still being released. Based on the initial shots a tshirt will also be available in complimentary colors. Take a look at the photos below and let me know if you will be plotting to cop your pair in a little over a week! Recently I was fortunate enough to receive an early pair of a new footwear brand hitting shelves all over the country. The brand is QoreID and plays off of the lights in shoes idea that has been seen long ago but also more recently on the Nike Air Mags and Reebok x Solebox Omni Zone Pump. The shoes feature a primarily black upper in mesh and nubuck with a white midsole and the afore-mentioned light areas. Some of the design elements of the shoe are a nod to several famous silhouettes of past brands/models. The mid part of the side panel definitely reminds me of a Jordan 13 in some ways but with a style to its own with the circle patters. The toe box mesh is fairly standard in a dunkish type shape and gives a clean finish. The upper cuff and tongue definitely have that pump feel as the on/off switch for the lights is located inside. They are also higher to the front side which makes for a great fit with some denim or pants for those who like the tongue to pop. The light portion of the shoes is barely noticeable when not activated which I for one feel is a great touch. It makes the shoes fashionable even for those who aren’t looking to be too flashy. Once turned on the lights are flashy for sure. My pair has blue tinted lighting but other colors such as red and green are also available. One of the greatest parts about QoreID is they are coming in at a price point affordable to many. I believe they will be $75 but check with their website for further details.

I chose to do my wear test on the shoes to a local DJ event that had a theme of glow in the dark. Needless to say there were a huge hit. All sorts of people were coming up to me and asking what they were and where they could get a pair. I also received comment about them outside the show while the lights were turned off and people just recognized them as a stylish pair of footwear. The actual surprising part of the shoes for me was the ridiculous level of comfort. I found them to be very well fitting and had great cushioning under foot. Often times a new brand focuses too much on style and not enough on comfort, that is definitely not the case here.
Take a look at the photos of the shoes below and comment what you think! You can keep up with the brand at the following links:

Thanks to a gentleman by the name of Ronnie Fieg, Asics collaborations have been majorly in the spotlight of sneaker culture of late. The interesting thing about that is that Asics has been killing the collaboration market overseas for years. Today we take a look at another in a long saga of amazing collabs. The Asics Gel Lyte III Cervidae is a shoe created in honor of Woei’s 5th anniversary. Woei is a Dutch sneaker boutique located in Rotterdam, Netherlands. For this makeup Woei chose the Cervidae, a deer found in Europe, as its inspiration. The shoes are covered in brown and tan suedes with navy stripes. Special golden logo hits are featured on the rear side and back heel. Sitting on white midsoles and a matching tan outsole these are stunners to say the least. Set to release in Rotterdam on June 30th and Worldwide July 7th the collaboration is sure to be an international hit. Take a look at the pics below and let me know your thoughts!

Its the shoe everyone is waiting for and they will now have to wait longer. Straight from Complex moments ago:

After waiting this long for the Nike Air Yeezy II, get ready to wait a little longer. According to a Nike spokesperson, the Air Yeezy II release date has officially been pushed back from April to June. Retail remains $245. This all means one thing — if you’re camping out now, you might want to stop home and get more supplies.

Sure glad I haven’t been camping for 2 weeks!

Dropping this week is a great collab from the New Balance Flimby handmade factory is a pair of 577s designed in collaboration with Stockholm’s Sneakers n Stuff and Milkcrate Athletics. While on the same model and featuring the same materials, the two shoes come from totally different sides of the design spectrum. The louder version of the two features Milkcrate’s bright colors and as he puts it “party animal” style. The pink, blue, yellow, and purple suede upper is topped off with a green new balance ‘N’ and white perforated leather on the toebox and ankle cuff. While not for this writer personally the shoes mish mash of colors surprisingly works on this model for some reason. The second model in the collab is a must for me. It features SNS more toned down design style that falls in line with both Europe retro runner style and New Balance’s style as well. Featuring a grey scale upper of the same premium suede the pack is tied together by the same perforated leather white toebox and ankle cuff. Both shoes include tonal rubber hangtags with Milkcrate/SNS branding and branded insoles as well. Check out the pics below as well as a video describing the inspiration for the collaboration. Available at a select retailers throughout the world you can picks yours up online Monday at Hanon.

FINALLY! After months of speculation, quick shots, rumors, and drooling we finally have detailed images of the Nike Air Yeezy 2 in the Wolf Grey colorway. Let me start by saying these shoes definitely live up to the hype times ten. Scheduled to release April 13th at select accounts (still waiting for confirmation from Beaverton) these are going to be THE drop of 2012. The details are endless and its hard to know where to start. An Egyptian Horus on the tongue is the centerpiece of sorts but the shoes also feature a very prominent snake theme. Add to that the 3M front portion, the tech challenge style midsole, hieroglyphics under the strap, and a detailed logo dust bag the ‘cray’ just keeps coming. I’m not a camper but I know I gotta get my hands (feet) on these! Check the pics below and let me know your thoughts.

The Yeezy news just keeps coming! According to The Shoe Game the Pure Platinum version of Kanye West’s second signature shoe will release on April 13th for a retail price of $250 (ouch). This color would be the counterpart of the ‘Zen Grey” Yeezy 1 that was my personal favorite of the bunch. For many this comes as great news after so much back and forth information on the release. It’s a bit of a relief to have a date to look forward to somewhat. These will be a tough cop for sure & we still need to hear 100% from Nike but I am sure people are already loading up their tents and sleeping bags now. No word yet on release locations or if it will be available online. Stay tuned for more Yeezy madness and take a look at the best pic we have seen so far below.

In a surprise twist a new colorway of the Nike Air Yeezy 2 popped up on Nike Talk yesterday. Featuring an all purple upper with red and voltish highlighting these are an interesting look for the most highly anticipated shoe of the year. The cubic gold lace aglets are an interesting look as well. These have an almost Christmas 2011 Kobe feel to them. Only time will tell if this is a sample or an official colorway. What do you think?

My fit: Valentine’s Day 2012. Based my fit last night on the Jordan Retro VI Varsity Red that my wife got me for Valentines 2010. The pants are Levis 504 Khakis which are quickly becoming my favorite pair of non-denim. Handsome Boy Clothing Mason Varsity crew sweatshirt in navy and a New Era Chicago Bulls fitted to top it off. Casio G-Shock on the wrist as usual. (sorry for the mediocre pic)
