New Balance is back. Not that it ever went anywhere but the surge in popularity of retro runners has definitely boded well for the Brighton Mass company that specializes in premium craftsmanship on everything from retro runners to modern day tech. Here we take a look at a new colorway of the 670 model. This is a model that has typically had more popularity in Europe that the United States and shares a lot of attributes with the New Balance staple 574. The 670 has also been featured in several high profile collaborations with such brands as Wood Wood, Hanon, and Norse Projects. This makeup comes in a familiar colorway of navy, red, and white we have seen on many models recently. The majority of the upper is a semi rough navy suede that gives that always premium feel to New Balance releases. Subtle highlights come in the form of a one piece rubberized “N”, heel cup, and encap in a darker shade of red. All this sits atop a white midsole and all black outsole. While very similar to the 574 overall these shoes have a less rugged feel with the smoothed out traction bars on the outsole and a more streamlined shape. The official model name for this shoe is the 670SNR where the S refers to the 3 pack of these that will release this spring at New Balance accounts. Will this returning model surpass the ever popular 574 in 2013? Only time will tell but take a look at the pics below and let me know your thoughts!

Why do I keep writing about the New Balance 574? Because this historic model is having an amazing resurgence this past year. Hot off the ‘tales’ of the American Tall Tales pack comes a new pack inspired by 80s/90s backpacks such as Eastpack and Jansport.  The full shoe is covered in ripstop canvas and features backpack detailing that we will all recognize immediately. The suede diamond loop on the tongue is unmistakable and the subtle “574” hit on the rear in black and red is an obvious ode to the Eastpack styles of the past. The N logo and encap are also covered in the golden suede featured on the tongue completing the look. Coming in blue, red, orange, green, and black there is something in here for every look. These are scheduled to drop in August at premium New Balance retailers such as Moda3 in Milwaukee. Comment below on whether you will be packing this pack into your closet.

Here is a look at the PYS x New Balance Mint Condition 574s that DROPped last night at midnight. Taking design cues from Ronnie Fieg’s now famous color blocking these 574s are definitely neck breakers. Premium suede wraps the shoe in black and light mint with both black and mint laces included. The real kicker on these is the details. PYS branding on the tongue with the words mint condition. Also inside the tongue is a # of 96 as that is the total number of pairs made. The New Balance box is also co-branded with PYS and the package is topped off with a PYS x Good Wood bracelet. These sold out in minutes last night but you can still score a pair over on ebay in a size 11.5 here.
