Today we take a look at the sneaker world’s most popular collaborator Ronnie Fieg’s  newest project with New Balance. Not a ton of details are known about the release yet but Ronnie just put up a front view on Instagram stating “salmon soles”. The shoe features the premium materials and color pop we have come to expect from his releases and the 1300 model is the lucky one to get “fiegstepped” this time. The 1300 is a premium model and Ronnie’s self proclaimed favorite model of all time. He used the steel blue colorway as the inspiration for his last New Balance collab 999. Sitting on a salmon colored sole the upper features a primarily navy suede upper with a cove blue logo hit. A white midsole and liner add a little contrast and complete the look. After being told that the “N” logo is indeed a cove blue I have come up with some speculation as to the design inspiration. Given the time of year and the colors being used I feel this shoe is a tribute to Fieg’s past releases of Cove and Salmon Toe GL3s. Both shoes dropped in September of 2010 and 2011 respectively. Given the past pattern of Kith releases it can be expected that this new iteration will drop in the next 2 weeks or so. Is a Kithstrike on the way? Stay tuned to @kithset and @ronniefieg on twitter and be ready!

As mentioned before, collaborations are the name of the game in collectible sneakers these days. They typically feature special colorways and premium materials that make the sole freaks go nuts. This latest collaboration from New Balance and West NYC Sneaker boutique is no different. The model chosen as a canvas for this design is the MT580 that has been making a resurgence in popularity thanks to Detroit shop Burn Rubber and their 3 collabs on the shoe. For this iteration West NYC’s owner Lester Wasserman went back to the 90s for some inspiration from alpine and ski wear that was popular at the time. Wasserman loves the outdoors and was going for a look that gave that feel while still staying true to the MT580s running style. The results are nothing short of fantastic. Featuring a primarily grey premium suede upper and hits of teal and purple throughout this shoe will definitely turns heads coast to coast. The black midsole with teal speckles is sure to please and the look is completed with rope style outdoor laces. One of my personal favorite details is the rubber tongue emblem also done up in a teal and purple look. These are schedule to DROP September 22nd at WestNYC and details are still being released. Based on the initial shots a tshirt will also be available in complimentary colors. Take a look at the photos below and let me know if you will be plotting to cop your pair in a little over a week! Why do I keep writing about the New Balance 574? Because this historic model is having an amazing resurgence this past year. Hot off the ‘tales’ of the American Tall Tales pack comes a new pack inspired by 80s/90s backpacks such as Eastpack and Jansport.  The full shoe is covered in ripstop canvas and features backpack detailing that we will all recognize immediately. The suede diamond loop on the tongue is unmistakable and the subtle “574” hit on the rear in black and red is an obvious ode to the Eastpack styles of the past. The N logo and encap are also covered in the golden suede featured on the tongue completing the look. Coming in blue, red, orange, green, and black there is something in here for every look. These are scheduled to drop in August at premium New Balance retailers such as Moda3 in Milwaukee. Comment below on whether you will be packing this pack into your closet.

Just in time for spring is a new Made in America drop from New Balance in the form of two m574 models. These models are a follow up to the American Tall Tales Pack that dropped last fall with a Paul Bunyan & Babe the Blue Ox set of colorways. This pair features Johnny Appleseed and John Henry inspirations. The John Henry pair features premium black and grey suede inspired by the steel driven in the railways by John Henry in the tales. Sitting on top of a white midsole & black outsole this is a simple colorway but a hit none the less. The brighter of the two is the Johnny Appleseed inspired pair. Also premium suede sitting on a white these 574s are a plush burgundy color with hits of red similar to the variations on an apple. The real pop on this pair is the gum outsole that helped the Paul Bunyan pair pop so well. These are hitting retailers now and the Johnny Appleseed pair is available for phone orders at Milwaukee’s Moda3. These are definitely on my radar, are they on yours? Let me know below! (Shouts to Kickstures for the great shots!)

Looks like Mr. Fieg is at it again. This time with a different brand. We all know Ronnie Fieg and his Kith locations for sick Asics releases like the Salmon Toes, Mint Leafs, Rose Golds, & Coves but based on this recent pic it looks like there is a new (sorta) brand on the horizon. Just moments ago Ronnie posted the following photo to his Instagram titled “Uh-oh spaghetti-O’s”. From the looks of it this is the early stages of Ronnie designing his own New Balance 999. This is a great model probably mostly remembered for last year’s Concepts “Kennedy” release. It has lots of different subtleties that are perfect for customization and premium materials the Kith owner is known for with his designs. Ronnie isn’t a stranger to New Balance as he celebrated the opening of Kith with a very limited run of instore only New Balance 574s that are also pictured below. Only time will tell what this release could or couldn’t be but I know I will be watching!

Dropping this week is a great collab from the New Balance Flimby handmade factory is a pair of 577s designed in collaboration with Stockholm’s Sneakers n Stuff and Milkcrate Athletics. While on the same model and featuring the same materials, the two shoes come from totally different sides of the design spectrum. The louder version of the two features Milkcrate’s bright colors and as he puts it “party animal” style. The pink, blue, yellow, and purple suede upper is topped off with a green new balance ‘N’ and white perforated leather on the toebox and ankle cuff. While not for this writer personally the shoes mish mash of colors surprisingly works on this model for some reason. The second model in the collab is a must for me. It features SNS more toned down design style that falls in line with both Europe retro runner style and New Balance’s style as well. Featuring a grey scale upper of the same premium suede the pack is tied together by the same perforated leather white toebox and ankle cuff. Both shoes include tonal rubber hangtags with Milkcrate/SNS branding and branded insoles as well. Check out the pics below as well as a video describing the inspiration for the collaboration. Available at a select retailers throughout the world you can picks yours up online Monday at Hanon.
