Today we take a look at a DROP I was able to pick up myself on Saturday. The Stefan Janoski model of Nike SB has taken off like wildfire in 2011 featuring tons of different spins on the vulcanized boat shoe look. Word from the local skate shop (Subsect Skate Shop) is that the Janoskis are their best sellers for both skaters and nonskaters alike. This particular DROP is probably my favorite Janoski to date. It comes in the mid cut model and features a classic wingtip or brogue look on some absolutely buttery caramel colored leather. The silhouette sits atop an all white vulcanized sole with brown piping for detail. Finish them off with waxed brown laces and you’ve got a shoe that sends this portion of Nike Skateboard into 2011 with a positive finish. I love them for their versatility as well since they work with both an urban skater look and a casual khaki look. I actually broke them out right away for my wife’s holiday work party and they were snappin 50 year old necks all night! These DROPPED this past weekend and are a quick strike available through many SB retailers such as the previously mentioned Subsect and Michigan’s Premier.

Recently opened in Shoreditch London is an absolutely awesome new look at your typical shopping locale. We are all familiar with pop-up shops but this idea by fashion guru Roger Wade of Boxfresh and real estate developers Hammerson and Ballymore is more of an entire pop-up mall. Built from shipping containers the project features small retail shops by several big hitters such as The North Face, Vans, and Nike as well as smaller retailers and food/art spots throughout. I truly think is the wave of the future in retail as you can have an essentially mobile alternative to the retail strip mall. I could see these being a huge hit at music festivals throughout the world as well as tourist destinations that are bigger certain times of the year like New Orleans for Mardi Gras or even areas of NYC for fashion week (though we all know NYC is always poppin). Take a look at a few images below and then go to Hypebeast to check out more. What are your thoughts on this new look of retail?

The time has finally come. The opening of Kith Manhattan was last week and marked by some special New Balance DROPs but I have been waiting for these forever. The Leatherbacks were originally previewed months ago and feature a similar but totally different look to the elusive salmon toes. For this DROP Fieg once again goes with the Asics Gel Lyte III and premium materials. These feature a buttery leather for most of the upper with some signature blue highlights that have become so common with Fieg’s designs. The part that really makes them pop in my opinion is the grey toe area which contrasts that high quality leather so well. These release Friday morning at 11am EST in Kith Manhattan with 40 individually numbered pairs releasing in store with the limited Good Wood boxes, wood dog tags, and a Kith matching tshirt. The remaining pairs will be online at the Kith website and are sure to sell out in minutes. I’ve got my calendar marked and reminder set for the DROP that’s for sure! Lets just hope my ISP doesn’t drop the ball like it did on me for the Salmon Toes. (photos courtesy of Vagrant Sneaker)

Its not often that a designer has so much pull that a mere teaser pic can get me and thousands of others excited. Well Jeff Staple is that designer. His iconic pigeon has made appearances on some of the most coveted and rare sneakers in the game. Another thing I like about him is that he also designs for function, not just form. You see it in various Reed Space items and more. Designers like Ronnie Fieg are definitely inspired by the clean lines DROPPED by Staple over the years. Here we take a look at a teaser pic of the new Staple x New Balance 577 Made in England. The 577 is a great model that has most recently popped up in the Highs and Lows Night and Day Pack. The black body and pink (or is it infrared) highlights definitely look like they could have some more pigeon inspiration and I for one will be anxiously awaiting the full look. His last collab with New Balance was nothing short of awesome (pictured below) and I am sure this DROP will be just as great. Take a look below and get excited! (Pic credit)

Today’s kicks: Nike Air Max 1 black/scuba blue

In perfect timing for gift giving season the coveted Nike Air Force 1 Low and High have returned to NikeID in limited quantities. Some of the features available for customizing with this DROP are brushed wool outers and chenille swooshes. This shoe is an icon but one that has not fit into my personal style lexicon for years. That definitely didn’t stop me from giving my designing skills a go! Check out the DROP DSM rendition here and let’s see yours!

Grails. Neck Breakers. Butta. Whatever you call them the Air Jordan III is a shoe of legendary status. The iconic elephant print. The visible air unit. The gorgeous tumbled leather. These kicks changed the game when they DROPPED back in 88 and have been snapping necks and topping best of lists ever since. The Jordan IIIs in Black/Cement have become synonymous with the GOAT himself. The triumphant return comes appropriately on Black “Cement” Friday 11/25/11 this year for the first time since 2001 which also happens to be the day after my birthday. I’m stoked, you’re stoked, what else can you say? If you are reading this blog you probably already knew about these kicks so here’s the official images to build the anticipation.
